I thank you for meeting with us on Monday. I support the bills which you have sponsored and co sponsored, and I wish you well with those.
Please consider what we spoke about; letting the alimony bill be heard in committee.
Rich people don't pay alimony. It's working men and women, the middle class and the upper middle class, who are suffering.
We do not have the funds to bring a bill again year after year. We spent everything we had to get our bill this far. And as you already know, we have the votes in both the house and the Senate. And we have a governor who supports out cause.
When I lost my medical practice, my home and my car. On the day I had no money to put gas in my borrowed vehicle, so I can get to work, is the day which I swore I'd fight against lifetime alimony. The laws are unfair. And you know this.
I'm sure Most married legislators have prenups which protect them from alimony because they don't want to pay it. They know it's unfair.
Ive been personally involved for the last 9 years. I'll be involved until we bring the laws into the 21st century.
Please Representative Rommel, let the state of Florida vote on our bill.
As a Florida resident and someone who has seen how terrible and out of date our divorce laws are I am asking you to place the current bill that addresses updating Florida’s divorce law on your agenda. Not everyone has the foresight to enter into a prenup prior to marriage and updating our divorce law will bring Florida into the 21st Century. Thank you.
I hope this is not just campaign slogan, but a promise. We need you to help us get a bill we want to get to the floor for a vote.
Thank you for your support of Alimony Reform Bill, we need safe passage on Monday through your committee. Florida voters have spoken year after year, we want Alimony Reform in 2019.
on behalf of my mother in law who is 95 and a Florida resident for most of her life, I ask you to allow HB1325 to be heard and supported via your committee. She says that she prays that her son who was married a mere 10 years and has been paying over 28 can one day retire after so many years of hard, honest work and has supported an able bodied, professional ex wife (who uses the money as a savings plan/ a retirement fund and an investment and travel fund....)for all of these years.
Alimony reform is a “Florida issue” that affects ALL families at some point...
My 89 year old father and 80 year old mother are now retired and enjoy the FLORIDA life that “all”Florida residents and your supporters pray for one day!!! Please know that this Bill allows for everyone to benefit ... our children snd grandchildren will be very thankful to you... please stop allowing archaic family alimony laws to enslave honest payors for life and even beyond( with forced life insurance policies to benefit healthy, working recipients)... and tear families apart due to animosity and greed.
I WAS MARRIED 41 YEARS, PUT MY X THRU LAW SCHOOL, MBA FINANCE, CPA, ETC. GAVE UP MY CAREER TO BE A PROFESSIONAL WIFE AND MOTHER.....HE TOOK IT ALL. BROKE EVERY STANDING ORDER, ETC. I GET A PITTANCE OF ALIMONY AFTER 41 YEARS. HE WENT TO SWITZERLAND AND ALL I HAVE IS MONEY JUDGMENTS. MY LIFESTYLE IS NOW EMBARRASSING.
Dear Representative Rommel, I all that you consider the alimony reform bill to be debated this year. It is only fair that the people get a fair discussion of this volatile issue by our Representatives. It is not a happy birthday to discuss but it effects millions of Floridians.
Thank you for your consideration.
Rep Rommel, as a Latino woman who is a full time mother, full time wife and a hard working employee, I would ask you to please put the Alimony Reform bill on the Agenda of your committee to be voted. This is a matter that touches many people in different ways. I strongly agree on helping those that sacrificed for their family, and that is not a one side story, and that’s why the Florida Legislature can help. We all deserve to have a standard of living, and unfortunately the way the laws were written in the early 1900s don’t represent the socio-economic reality of 2019. PLEASE let the Democratic process work and put the bill to the Agenda!!!
Will HB1325 be heard?
Will my boyfriend and ALL other money Payors, have a chance to become FREE, from their ex's long-term demands?
The only way to be free is death or change if law; we are much too civil for the former, so we insist on the later.
Rick Scott did VETO similar reforms in 2013 & 2016, but failed to close old loopholes with other legislation or EO.
To abolish permanent alimony is good for both people in divorce; recipient and payor alike.
Please help provide HOPE, by at least hearing House Bill 1325 and a few citizens FROM the Payor, and PRO SE sides of issues at Family Court.
Rep. Rommel the word out there is you don’t support are cause and probably you might have been the driving force against are bill to be heard! With that said and how restructuring these old laws could help so many people old and young, men and women, children and grandchildren, I would NEVER wish that you and for that matter ANY person be faced with permanent alimony FOR THE REST OF THERE LIVES! I wish I knew truly what your views and thoughts are when it comes to Family Law! In your case you MUST believe that 7 states in the United States have it right and all the others have it wrong. I believe your a good man there’s just some disconnect some where! Maybe you’ll think differently the next time we get that opportunity to bring it forth to the great state of Florida! Thanks for listening and I mean that!!
Sir, you decided not to put it on the agenda and I beleive it does not matter what we do. You have the power, you allow one person under penalty of jail to work for another person for the rest of his or her life. I am sure you feel the power, I know it's not justice but by not allow it, you feel you have power over eeverything in life. I am in close to the end of final judgment, the judge who ordered me to pay was removed by Florida Supreme court from the bench, my soon to be ex's attorney's wife, fairly young got a heart attack, her new attorney had an open heart surgery. Anyway who tries injustice seems to have no much luck in life, sometimes I do beleive in karma. So, enjoy your power, I wish you well sir, life does have interesting way to balance things... Sometime all we slaves have left is hope and God.
Rep Rommel, why would you deliberately not place a bill on the agenda that you KNOW is a very hot topic? You know that permanent alimony is wrong. You even admitted to having a pre-nup to avoid the unfairness of BAD LAW. You even said it is unfortunate. You never said you agree that marriage renders some people unable to be adults as a matter of fact you feel quite the opposite. So why won't you put HB1325 on your agenda? Even if your marriage is strong and I hope it is, or you have what you think is an air tight pre-nup (which there is no such thing) think about the poor souls who don't. That could be your friend or your sibling or your child. Can you imagine your child being financially tethered to an ex spouse just because their marriage failed? Can you imagine that happening when your child is late in his/her late 30's? Can you imagine???
Please Rep Rommel.... Do the right thing.... Let FL vote on it. Don't rule like a dictator. It's quite unbecoming.
LET FL VOTE for HB1325.
It's already decided, there is no bill on the agenda. It's over for this and next year as Rommel will be in the same position next year. The receipients likely pledged support to his re-election. It is simple mechanics. It's over, use existing law or supreme court.
Boooo...all Republicans are un America filth who gladly put profit and party over country
Chairman Rommel, please let Democracy reign; let the people speak. Let their votes, whatever they may be - be heard. It is the righteous thing to do.
Republicans have legislated Profits Over People for several decades in Florida. Why would this legislation benefit Floridians and not Insurance Corporations? It won’t, the devils in the details and when I read “free market option” I know Floridians are being setup to get screwed.
Charles, how can you make a blanket statement. I’m sure there are some good republicans, in fact Bob Rommel is a very good republican. Have a good day. Enjoy.
Republicans are filthy un American dogs who will always put profit and party over country. Not 1 of them is a decent human being anymore. Not 1 is fit to hold any office
